Copper Tungsten is the ideal electrode material for EDMing carbide and tungsten carbide workpieces. It is widely used when superior surface finish is required. The electrical conductivity is increased when the copper content is increased. When sharper detail and less electrode wear is required, the high tungsten content is more suitable. High-speed steel tools are usually used in machining copper tungsten, but tungsten carbide tools are more suitable for machining multiple electrodes. Common Copper Tungsten grades are 70% Tungsten with 30% copper mix and 75% Tungsten with 25% copper mix.
